Gifts in Wills
How a gift in your Will can make a lasting impact
Since 2017, Refuge4Pets has supported over 400 families to escape domestic abuse by fostering more than 700 animals. A gift in your Will can help ensure this vital lifeline continues, providing safety and support for both people and their beloved pets for years to come.
“I am really proud to have made Refuge4Pets a major beneficiary in my Will. It gives me peace of mind to know what good will come of the money.” Steve
A gift in your Will has a life-changing impact, enabling us to be there when humans and animals need us most. Every gift, regardless of size, will make a difference.
Help us care for dogs like Miya
We collected Miya, a beautiful dog, from her mum, who had just fled domestic abuse. Mum was so upset about parting with Miya. They’d never been separated before. Miya was her world. Miya was visibly shaking during the collection. Nervous around anyone who wasn’t her mum. She showed noticeable signs of trauma from the abuse she had witnessed. To help her feel more comfortable and support her in trusting someone new, she was placed in a quiet, single-person foster home.
We stayed in regular contact, checking in with phone calls, visits and offering support when needed. We advocated for mum to be placed into temporary accommodation that allowed dogs, so a reunion could happen as quickly as possible. Thankfully Miya and mum are now reunited.
By leaving a gift in your Will, you can help us care for dogs like Miya so her mum can flee domestic abuse.
Please note: We have changed names and this image is a stock library photo – it is not Miya or her mum.

What type of gift?
Residuary gift: This is a percentage of your estate once any specified gifts have been made to friends and family. Many charity supporters choose to leave this type of gift because its value will be dependent on the value of your estate at any given time rather than a set amount.
Pecuniary gift: This a specific amount of money. It’s worth bearing in mind that the value of this type of gift could decrease over time, as the cost of living increases.
Specific gift: This is a gift or a specified item such as a personal possession or property.
Do you already have a Will?
If you have already made your Will, a gift to Refuge4Pets can be added to it by way of a codicil. This is a document that allows you to make slight changes to an existing Will without rewriting it. We recommend you speak to a solicitor about this.
